Volvo: 1998 volvo S70 tire selection, michelin mxv4, sumitomo tires

Question

I'm looking for information on tires for my 1998 Volvo S70. I've been told that the car was designed for a "V" rated tire and i'm not sure if i can drop to a "H" rated tire. The recomended tire or original equip. is Michelin MXV4 energy + 88v tires. My tires are 195/60R15 and i'd also like to know alternatives to the Michelin tires, such as Continental, Pirelli, Toyo, or anyother tires out there.
                          Thanx, Vic

Answer
Hello Vic! You can go with an "H" rated tire. You will find that they are cheaper and will last longer. The "V" rated tires are rated for high speed. The Michelin, although good, is one of the most expensive tires. I like Continental, Khumo, Toyo, or Sumitomo tires. Go to www.tirerack.com for comparison shopping.
