Volvo: 850 Volvo SC-815 radio installed, now car wont start, car wont start, radio code

Question
I just purchased a new Volvo SC-815 CD player to replace my old cassette player (my car is a 96 850 and the player fits and is said to work with this year, etc). I have the radio code, and hooked up the radio to the factory wiring, entered the code, and now the car wont start. Someone said this might be an electrical problem...

I thought maybe it was an anti-theft problem, because when i un-hook the new cd player, the car will start up fine..

Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Thanks
Ron

Answer
It sounds like you might have crossed some wires during the installation.  If your alarm system has an auto kill feature, it is plausable you are triggering that with the radio.  I think the only way to figure this out is to pull the radio out again and take a careful look at the wiring harness, paying special attention to what systems it might be on the same circuit with (i.e. the alarm or ignition system).  Good luck!
