Volvo: 1999 v70 key wont program, volvo specialist, volvo dealer

Question
I Just bought a 1999 V70 from a private dealer that got the car from a auction. The car only had one key so I bought a key from volvo then took key to another volvo dealer to be programed.
After 3 hrs they told me that the programs wouldn't take and sense they do not know car history it would be hard to find the problem and may not be able to find problem. They said don't lose the 1 working key I have.Sometimes the srs light will flash like maybe it has a short.
I want to know if there is anyway to bypass the anti thef so I can start the the car without transponder key.
I don't like not having a spare key.
I appreciate any help you can give me even if it just pointing me to another web site.
Thank you.

Answer
Hello Jon! It sounds like there is a problem with the Immobilzer system. It could be as simple as a new antenna ring or as complicated as replaceing the immobilzer comtrol module. Any qualified Volvo technician should be able to fault trace it and give you an accurate diagnosis. I would go to anther Volvo dealer or a Volvo specialist for another look. There is no way to bypass the sytem. Also, the SRS light should not be flashing. There could be some serious problems with the car. Have the entire car checked out ASAP. You may have bought a lemon.
