Volvo: 1990 240 wagon, wire harness, headliner

Question
I believe the wire harness operating the wiper/ washer and defrost for the tailgate is broken where it goes through the hinge.  Can you possibly tell me the process in replacing this harness.

When I did it, I ended up removing the hinges from the car by undoing the bolts from the inside (peel back the headliner around the rear of the roof).  Once the gate comes off, you can cut the wire harness from the inside of the car and pull it out through the hole.  Remove the inside carpet panel from the gate and pull the rest of the wire out.  Now you can soder a new section in and reroute the wire the same way it came out.  Good luck!
