Volvo: 1990 240 Wagon, bleeder valves, bleeders

Question
In the process of bleeding the front brakes I have broken off some bleeder valves on each front caliper.  Can these be drilled out, retapped and replaced while on the car or do I have to replace the calipers?

Answer
You can do either or, remove and retap the bleeders, or replace the calipers themselves.  In both cases, you have to completely bleed the brake system fluid.  My recommendation would be to replace the calipers if you are willing to get some off a junkyard car, because that will be the cheapest route.  You can get bleeders from a doner car or new from the dealer if you want to go that route too.  You should be able to get to the valve without removing the calipers.  Good luck!
