Volvo: Sunroof, grunt work, weather strip

Question
I have a 93 940 which chugs along fine. A week ago, the sunroof's weather strip separated from the sun roof rear frame and apparently pushed the roof off of its track?

It flips open at the back, but will not retract. In addition, it doesn't close cleanly, but sticks up slightly at the rear corner. If you continue to press the button, the protuding piece become flush, but the other corner is then lower than the roof line.

Does this sound like an expensive repair, or is it truly a track or similar issue? Thanks.

Answer
It sounds like that weather stripping really fouled up the alignment.  It could be one or two things.  Either the stripping itself is folded and bent up in the wrong places behind the sunroof, causing it not to be able to slide back properly, or the stripping pushed the sunroof off its track and now it won't go back because of that.  Either way, the first thing to do is completely fish out the weather stripping from the area.  Then, if the roof still refuses to go back, you'll probably have to take some time and grunt work to give it a few good knocks so as to bring it back into its tracks.  Then, a careful reapplication of the weather stripping is in order.  My recommendation is to by a new, non fouled strip, especially if the old one has some kinks in it.  Good luck!
