Volvo: Bunch of 99 S-80 questions, volvo specialist, k n air filter

Question
1. I have an error message on my dash reading "Bulb failure, position light." (code 60) I've replaced all the bulbs, resituated the tail light bulbs numerous times, all to no avail.

2. I bought my S-80 t-6 used and only received one key. I would like to buy the remote, but have been told by the dealer that a new remote programmed into my car would be about $320. other online places say to buy from them and have a frequency reader read what the code would be, that's all a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. Is there any way to program a used remote as long as it's the same part number? or am i stuck paying $320? I guess my main question on this is....if I do find one with the right part number, can I do the "turn the car on and off 5 times, then press the lock/unlock buttons" and have it read the remote? it would seem if this Swede places can reprogram the who ECU, why can't they develope a $40 program to do a remote.

3. I'm looking into an ECU upgrade, I seem to have alot of options be it ISD, BSR, PPC, SCT, or some of the others ranging from 300-325 hp when all is said and done. Just wondering if I have to worry about anything beyond excessive wear as damage later on. I know it'll put the engine to use, just wondering if you've heard of other worse case scenerios?

4. Would you recommend a K & N air filter for the car, beit the stoc version, or the open air kit. or do I have to worry about the MAFS burning out from the oils within those filters?

Thanks a bunch for your time,

Josh

Answer
Hello Josh! To answer your questions,

1. Make sure that you didn't miss a bulb. There are a few small ones in the tailamp that are easily overlooked. Also, make sure all the bulbs have a silver base.
2.The ignition keys and the remotes must be programmed by a Volvo dealer or a Volvo specialist. Special tools and software is needed for programming. Remotes need to have the frequency code. Do not buy a remote without the code. It is useless. A new remote will come with the info to program it. The price you are getting seems a bit high, but it depends on shop labor rates and parts prices.
3.Go to www.ipdusa.com for info on the ECM upgrades. They are specialists in Volvo performance and upgrades.
4. Yes, I would recommend the K&N air filter. I use it in my own Volvo. They work great.

I hope this info helps.
