Volvo: 94 850 turbo wagon auto 101,000 miles, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum tower

Question
Hi, I have an 94 850 turbo with 101000 miles here is the problem it has been at 3 shops over $1800.00 has been spent on it

The car will not idle in gear once warmed up it will idle by itself but will stumble.
The motor seems to be running rich, smell and smoke.
And I noticed the temp gauge moves up and down sometimes.

Here is what has been done: Cleaned throttle body

Cleaned the EGR valve (removed)

Cleaned the Idle sensor (removed)

Sealed the Vacuum Leak in Vacuum tower (removed and siliconed)

Replaced the Vacuum hoses

New MAP sensor

New Thermostat

New thermostat Sensor

New Fuel filter

New hose clamps

New plug wires

New cap

New rotor

New spark plugs

New gasket throttle body

Cleaned all connections (electric)

Dielectric grease on all connectors

I do not know what else to do and am tired of the shops running me along

The computer says code 121 but that has been replaced

All parts are brand new bosch

Please any help I would greatly appreciate

Answer
Hello Bryan! Has anyone ever checked the fuel pressure? If so what is it? I have seen the fuel pressure regulator cause that problem. The 121 code means there is a fault with the MAF sensor. Although, I would check the fuel pressure regulator first. I'll be here if you need me!
