Volvo: Hi, I have a 1991 740SE Wagon...., emergency brake lever, volvo dealer

Hi, I have a 1991 740SE Wagon.  A few weeks ago when pulling the E/B (emergency brake) lever, I hear something snap, the hand brake cable I presume.  Now, I pull the lever and the E/B does not engage.  How easy is it to replace and what is the part number I shall be looking for?  Many thanks in advance!!

It sounds like you did break the link cable, which goes to the back wheels from the handle.  To replace the cable is not that difficult and can be done in an afternoon yourself provided you have a way to jack up the car high enough to get underneath it.  I'm not sure the part number, but if you wanted to order it new, I'm sure you could just call a Volvo dealer and tell them what you need.  Or even cheaper, you could pull a used cable off a car from a junkyard.  Would only cost a couple of dollars then.  Good luck!
