Volvo: 1989 Volvo Multi-link rear suspension, conversion kit, broken spring

Question
I have a 1989 Volvo 760GLE, 150K Kms. The car is tilted almost two inches to the left at the back. I suspected a broken coil spring but when I looked, there was no evidence of a broken spring. I read some info on a self leveling feature but it was general and not much help. I'm reluctant to remove the spring without any evidence of it being broke. Do you have any sugestions as to my next step?

Answer
Hell Paul! It is possible that the shock is bad. Your car is equipped with a self leveling (Nivomat) shock. They can be expensive. Around $300.00 per shock! I believe there is a conversion kit availble to change to a standard spring and shock. It is much more cost effective to get the kit. Go to www.ipdusa.com for info about the conversion kit.
