Question
Hi! I've just bought a Volvo 440 (1991 model). Found two problems: 1) The dashboard lighting of the speed/clock indicator is not working. The indicator light i.e. battery etc. are working. What's wrong? 2) Since this morning an indicator lit up at the dashboard. In the top right corner, a circle with under that a sqaure, with a cross over it is lit. What does this mean? Hope to have your answer soon! Greetz, Steven, the Netherlands

Answer
Unfortunetly I don't know anything about the 440 model, being that they were a Europe only car, I've never even seen one except in pictures.  I would guess that if your intrument cluster itself is working (i.e. the gauges work), that you probably just have a burned out lightbulb that will involve pulling the cluster from the dash and replacing one or two.  Very easy fix.  As for the light, that particular pattern isn't ringing a bell, so what I suggest you do is either hunt down an owners manual, which will have those lights and their meanings in them, or go to www.brickboard.com, where you can post your question for free in the 440 section, and get answers from fellow owners that will have a lot more experience than me.  Hope that helps, sorry I didn't know more!
