Volvo: resetting check engine light, car traces, dead mouse

Question
Hello - This is my 2nd Volvo, and now my new (used)2002 V70 22K miles "check engine" light is on.. How can I reset it? I know it must be a simple procedure so I dont want to go to a Dealer for that.  (My old Volvo had that frequently - so I replaced the module before selling it.)
Also, FYI, I have had a mouse problem in my car.. (Never before) noticed a smell (dead mouse)went to an upholstery place and they found a huge next in the headliner! Seems like those critters have a free run inside the shell of the car.  Traces in the glove compartment, rear tail light area, and nesting over my head! I think I got them all, but I think the vehicle should have a few more barriers!  Thanks for any info on the reset. Pat

Answer
Hello Pat! You need a special tool to reset the check engine light. The light is on for a reason. There may a fault somewhere that needs to be fixed. Resetting the light may not fix the problem. It is best to go to a dealer to have it checked. The car should still be covered under warranty.
