Volvo: My car stalls and runs rough, volvo 240 wagon, fuel pressure regulator

Question
My '91 Volvo 240 wagon with 370,000 keeps running rough and stalling. I've replaced the air mass meter after I was told it was faulty, and things were good for a while.  But now, it's happening everyday.  I can't afford to keep getting it checked, because no one seems to know what's wrong with it.  I'm really frustrated.  It happens alot when I shift from park to reverse.  And when I apply the brake.  Can you help?

Answer
Hello Colin! It would be tough to tell you what exactly is wrong. However, the first thing I would check is the throttle body. It may need to be cleaned and adjusted. Also, check for broken vacuum lines, intake hoses, intake gasket and check the fuel pressure regulator. The brake booster could also have a vacuum leak. I understand you may not want to spend too much money on the car, but it is best to have it checked by a qualified Volvo technician. It may cost you more money to guess at it. I hope this info helps.
