Volvo: transmission warning light flashing, volvo 850 glt, throttle position sensor

Question
I have a 1993 Volvo 850 GLT. with 120,000 miles.  The original tranny went bad at 43,000. The transmission warning light (arrow) started flashing. I immediately drove it to a transmission repair shop and they said the "Throttle Pressure Sensor" or TPS may be going bad. They reset the codes, changed the fluid, test drove it and the light did not come back on for them. The next day, the warning light started flashing again. I already spent $250 for my original diagnosis, what do I do now?

Answer
Hello Dave! The first thing I would do is find a qualified Volvo technician. Resetting the codes is useless without fixing the cause of the code. The TPS is called the throttle position sensor. I have seen many go bad. Another common problem is the gear position sensor. I would check the car again using the Volvo scan tool for a more accurate diagnosis. I hope this info helps.
