Volvo: 1998 V70, late model cars, controller area network

Question
The spedometer and tach do not work on my V70.  The computer hook up says it is a Control Mudule, which is also called a wiring plate in some references.  It is part number 945-9557.  If I replace the entire instrument panel with a used one would this solve the problem?  Or is the control module separate.  Is the control module difficult to get to?

Answer
Hello,
In late model cars there is a network called CAN stays for Controller Area Network. And for your car, the centre of the CAN I mean the main computer of the CAN is DIM stays for Driver Informmation Module or another name is Combined Instrument panel you said "Control Module" in your writing so it is clear that you can not use a "used" one. You will need to be a new one.
