Volvo: 2000 Volvo S80 2.9 L poor acceleration and gas mileage., poor gas mileage, volvo s80

I purchased my Volvo S80 non turbo with 68,000 miles on it. I've noticed that it has a very poor acceleration and poor gas mileage. I always have to give it a good step on the gas pedal to have a decent acceleration and with that comes poor gas mileage. I always use 93 octane gasoline, replaced my spark plugs a month ago, and even replaced my air filter with K&N air filter but I didn't notice any difference in acceleration nor any improvement in gas mileage. It's just ashame when accelerating from a complete stop, that most 4 cylinder car can speed up more quickly than my Volvo S80. Any suggestions or idea about my car's problem?

Hey Nick! I have never been a fan of the S80. The 2.9 model is not a performance car by any means. You would have been better off with the turbo model. Is the car running ok? Is the check engine light on? Has the car been tuned up? 60K service? The more info I have the better I can help you.
