Volvo: Volvo S-80, volvo s 80, safety features

Question
How would you rate the reliability of the S-80 and the wisdom of buying a 2001 or newer S-80 2.9?
What problem should we be aware of?  How does it compare with other cars in its class.
We like the safety features, style, ride, etc.

Hello John! I would go with a 2003 or later S80. There are many bugs that have been worked out since the S80 came out in 99. They have been known to have many different problems ranging from electrical, suspension and transmission. The new S80's are the best. I hope this info helps.
