Hi,

I bought a  1996 volvo 960 4dr sedan, the remote key worked sometimes after replacing the battery and reprogramming. But now, I can only hear slight clicking sound and see light flashing after pressing the lock button, the doors are still  unlocked.
The check engine came out some time ago. the volvo mechanic told me this is because of the air pump of the waste control system and does not afect the drivability, is that true?

Hello,
The problem about remote control is the remote entry control unit, it is located on the driver information module (it is display unit speed, rpm, fuel gauge, heat gauge...) (it can not be seen without removing it). It should be replaced with new one.
The other problem regarding check engine, yes mechanic is true, ignore it.
