Question
bought 87 740 gle wagon from fellow employee after driving wagon for 20 miles odometer stopped working but speedometer still works.previous vehicles i have owned speedometer and odometer worked together.what do i look for to repair odometer? previous owner never tuned up wagon in 7 yrs. i changed plugs, plug wires, and cleaned throttle body. on highway wagon{automatic,4cyl.,fuel injected, low compression engine} runs like world class racecar but at stoplight idle hesitates and seems like it wants to stall.any ideas as to what to look for.for 215000.miles this vehicle is truly incredible!! thanks

Answer
Hey Hector! My advice would be to go over every system on the car. Especially if the car hasn't been maintained in a while. Check all fuel and ignition components. The fuel pressure regulator is a verty common problem at that mileage. However, it could be anything. It is best to have the car checked by a Volvo technician. As far as the odometer, you may need to replace the speedo aasy. I hope this info helps.
