Volvo: Remote keyless entry, remote keyless entry, volvo 850

Question
1997 Volvo 850.  My remote keyless entry stopped working.  I changed the batteries in the remote device, as I have on past ocassions, but it still doesn't work.  I hear a single click when I press it (not loud, but enough to make me believe the device is functioning).  There was no trauma to the device; it just stopped. The car radio is working and the fuse looked OK.

This is made worse by the fact that for some time there has been a problem with the manual key lock in the driver's side door, which no longer functions.  So I have to climb in an out of the passenger door to lock the doors.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi,
Your remote keyless entry control unit so transmitter of the unit may have problem. To check if it has faulty or not try to lock and unlock the car from very close to the car if it has faulty, from close distance it will work. It means that the unit should be replaced with new one.

GoodLuck...Regards...
