Volvo: engine stall after start, obd ii, compressor clutch

Question
Hi Jimmy,

I have this 1995 Volvo 850 that was towed in the shop. This problem started with the customer lost the A/C while he was driving it. The reason for lost A/C due to burned compressor clutch. I went ahead and dropped in a new compressor and dryer.

Afterwards the engine stalled right after the engine started. Interesting thing is, the engine will run roughly about 10 seconds before it stalls. I checked the OBD II and there is no code that exist. The fuel pressure was good. I contact the tech line and is not getting any help there. I'm wondering if this problem is related to the A/C failure. Any information would be greatly appreciated it. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jim Mar (Houston, Texas)

Answer
Hello Jim! I really don't think the stalling is due to the a/c problem. It may be possible that somthing came loose during the repair. Is the car turbocharged? How did you go about replacing the compressor and dryer? What components did you remove to access it? Are you sure this problem did not exist before the a/c repair? I have some ideas of what it can be, but I need more info. Please feel free to contact me at my shop. I will help you any way I can. There is a toll free number listed on my website. Give me a call or email me back with more info. I'll be here to help you.
