Driving & Driving Test Tips: Parking brake laws, grocery store, parking brake

In California are you required to set you parking brake whenever and whereever you park your vehicle? I know when you park on a hill or 18" from a curb you are required to set your parking brake. How about in your driveway, grocery store, buisness, garage, etc. If so, can you be ticketed or fined. Thanks, Dan

any time you park in a position that coudl be hazardous if the parking brake is not used is probably the only time an officer will find out about it.  that is if the vehicle rolls off and hits something.  officers can not and do not stop a person getting into their vehicle to check and see if the parking brake was set.
