Driving & Driving Test Tips: what do i need to practice most?, emergency flashers, loud song

Question
I go for my driving test on April 16th and I just began to practice now so i would
like to know what i am expected to know, and what is VERY important to know.

Answer
Each state is a little different, but I would think every state offers a drivers license handbook that goes over everything on the written test, and probably everything on the driving test.  Call your local drivers license facility and get the books (usually free).

Most driving tests focus on the details.  Things like checking the mirrors, adjusting the seat and steering wheel properly, PUTTING ON YOUR SEATBELT before starting the car.

You should know where all the equipment is and how it works, like wipers, horn, signals, emergency flashers.

Of course everything should work on the car, check all lights and accessories.

REMEMBER TO TURN OFF THE RADIO before going in to the license facility.  Very embarassing to have the radio come on first thing with some loud song!

The actual driving portion will probably include things like how to park either uphill or downhill, know which way to turn the tires, and remember to set the parking brake (did you check that the parking brake works?  most drivers rarely use theirs and if you use it the first time at the test, and it hangs up, you are in trouble!).  YOu may have to park parallel or at an angle, and will make some turns and stops.  Remember to signal well in advance.

Again, get the book(s) and know them by heart, the more prepared you are, the more at ease you will be.

If you are just getting your license, the more practice you get with a parent/guardian etc the better.
