Driving & Driving Test Tips: Driving w/ my Junior License, full faith and credit clause, homestate

Question
I just got my junior license and am understandably thrilled.  But, of course, I am not sure about a few things.  One of my questions is this:  Can I drive into different states, other than my homestate of PA?

Thanks,

Jarret

Answer
Jarret-

Congrats!  Welcome to the world of driving!

You only stated one question specifically about your junior license, but let me answer that and give you a few tips.

First, your license is good in any state; it does not matter that it is a "junior" license or that it is from PA.  The Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution roughly says that a state must honor the documents of other states, with exceptions for various reasons.  As far as I know, you shouldn't have any problems.

However, you do need to strictly follow the guidelines, rules, and restrictions for your license in your state.  For example, if you are prohibited from driving after midnight in your state, you can't come to Minnesota and drive at that time either, even though we have no restriction.

Which brings me to my next thought:  Make sure to find out if your license has any restrictions like driving only during certain times, or with only so many passengers.  Those are the two biggest things that come up.

If you have more questions or need more specific information, let me know.  But otherwise, good luck!
