Transportation and Vehicle Safety: motercycle transportation, proper ventilation, safety chains

Question
What are the laws on transporting motercycles in an enclosed trailer.I have to bring two bikes from ny to fl?

Answer
Hi Joe and welcome to AllExperts!

All states allow for the safe transportation of vehicles as long as they are safely harnessed to the trailer or dolly, and the trailer or dolly is correctly and legally attached to the vehicle pulling it. This would obviously include proper lighting, registration, safety chains and similar things. For non-commercial pulling of a trailer under 10,000 pounds, you would not need to have a special license.

I would ensure the trailer has proper ventilation and is not leaking any fluids. Short of that, you should have no legal problems. Remember that each state has specific driving requirements when pulling a trailer such as lower maximum speeds and restricted lanes that you must remain in. This has nothing to do with pulling motorcycles and everything to do with pulling a trailer.

I hope this helps and have a wonderful day!
