4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 2002 Yukon GMC, wheel position, turning a corner

Question
When I turned a corner yesterday my light displayed "stability Check" and my car went dead. I tried to turn the ignition and nothing happened not even an electrical  sound. I've was told the fuel pump shorted to the PMC and I need to replace the fuel pump. The cost was $1500. Seems high. Could this really be a possibility? have you heard or seen this before?

Answer
Kay,

This doesn't seem to be a fuel pump problem as that shouldn't activate the "stability check" light.

It's usually the steering wheel position sensor failure, resulting in the service stability message being displayed.  This would make more sense as it happened when you were turning a corner.

I would contact a couple of reputable mechanics for more estimates before you decide who to take it to.  $1500 does seem high for a fuel pump replacement, if that is actually a problem.
