1) is there any to install an override switch to feed power to the transfer case encoder motor to lock the awd system in awd? the way it engages/disengages is terrible.
OR: will the torsen transfer case from a Trailblazer SS fit?

I'm not familiar with that transfer case, but you can contact Advance Adapters to see what might be available for a conversion.  I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee with AWD.  It works great and is extremely smooth.

I would suspect that you are having an internal problem with the transfer case.  I would change out the fluid first and see if this helps.  If not I would consider talking to some one else who owns a similar vehicle to see if they are having the same problems.
