4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 1998 jeep grande cherokee front end grinding, jeep grand cherokee, jeep grand cherokee laredo

Question
I own a 1998 jeep grand cherokee laredo. After driving long distances the front end makes a grinding noise when turning. It doesnt do this with just regular use, only after driving longer distances (50mi+)Is this an issue or just one of the grand cherokee's quirks?

Answer
Tammy,

I would suggest that you get a front end alignment and have the front bearings checked.  It could, also be a bad front u-joint, bad brakes, or a front differential problem.
If the Jeep hasn't been serviced on a regular interval, then you may have some dry components that are heating up and binding after driving for a longer period of time.
