4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Pulling 4 WD 1990 Totota Truck, rear drive shaft, wheel drive car

Question
QUESTION: I purchased a 1990 Toyota 4WD small truck to pull behind my motor home. But to my surprise the truck book and a reply from Toyota states that it can only be pulled 50 miles in freewheel.
Now that you know my problem here is my question. I have seen large flat beed trucks that 4WD converted to a front wheel drive car hauling truck using only the front wheels for pulling. Would I do any damage to my truck if when we take a trip to just disconnect the rear drive shaft and put the front wheels in freewheel and leave the rear drive shaft at home?  I dought that I would the truck in this configuration between 100 -300 miles.
I could trade for a jeep. but I like m little truck.  Any and all information will greatly appreciated'

ANSWER: Jerry , as long as you pull the drive shaft off while in tow, it will be perfectly fine I have pulled a mustang from arizona to iowa that way just make sure to check the oil after you put the driveshaft back in , just in case some leaks out good luck adam

QUESTION: orI understand pulling the drive shaft out and putting it back, however I don't want to do this every 3 or 4 days.  While I am on one of my camping trip could I leave the rear drive shaft out and use the truck as a front 2 wheel drive while on my camping trip? I don't think I would drive more than 3 to 5 hundred miles in this configuration.

Answer
Jerry , sorry for the delay I have had an ill family member so I wasnt able to get back to you right away . It would be ok to drive the truck in this way , shouldnt be a promlem , really is no different than a an all wheel drive vehicle thanks alot ADAM
