I thinking about purchasing a 2003 4runner, v8. It has all wheel drive. Why did Toyota go to all time 4 wheel drive only on the v8.
Any problems with known problems with it

As far as why any manufacturer goes with specific designs or changes, that is what their engineers have designed and suggested.

When it comes to buying a vehicle of any type, no matter what others prefer, or suggest, you need to drive/test the vehicle you want yourself, and decide if this is what you want.  What you prefer may be totally different than what I like or prefer.
