4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: starting trouble, fuel pressure regulator, gmc jimmy

QUESTION: what is the fuel pressure on a 1997 gmc jimmy 4.3 right now its about 45 before starting after started its 50. have to spray starting fluid to get it started. after sitting 3 or 4 hours or more.

ANSWER: That should be enough fuel pressure, if you leave the gauge on it does it hold pressure or does it bleed off? I have seen the pump do that as well as the fuel pressure regulator do that thanks ADAM

QUESTION: The pressure bleeds off after an hour or two. replaced regulator.fuel pump about four years old.

Its more than likely the fuel pump , we have replaced a pump and had it go bad within a few weeks so 4 years wouldnt be a surprise if it is bleeding off pressure I would say that it was the pump, or you have a leak somewhere , we have a smoke macheine that we use it the shop to determine that thansk ADAM
