4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: High Oil Pressure - Chev 350, oil pressure sending unit, oil port

Question
We have a 1997 Chev 3/4 ton, with a 350.  When we started it the oil pressure spiked and stayed that way, and then the seal on our filter blew.  We have since replaced both the filter and the adapter, which is what GM said it might be.  We started it up again, oil pressure once again spiked, and oil shot all the way to the back driver tire and beyond.  Any idea or suggestion what this could be?

Answer
soudns like there is a clog in an oil port somwhere. That could be anywhere in the engine. You know it is getting up to the top of the engine block to reach the oil pressure sending unit so it is somwhere past that unit but something is stopping the flow of oil and causing it to spike. Is the engine knocking? Could be a spun bearing on the crank or just a simple blockage
