4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 85 CJ7 4 cyl, fuel leaks, oil leaks

I am looking at a 85 CJ7 in very good shape with only a few spots of surface rust.  However it has a 4 cyl with 135K miles.  It seems to run good but i would like to know what to look for as far as problems with the engine.  I have had a 6 cyl with 182k on it with no problems. Is it possible the 4cyl is as good?

I always give the benefit of the doubt. The engine could be in perfect condition and run for another 135K. Look for oil leaks and any fuel leaks, new parts, cleanliness, and pull the dipstick and look at the oil. See if there is any metal or white foam in it. With it running take the oil cap off and see if there is "air" blowing out of the valve cover. This will tell you if the engine is totally worn out or if it still has some life in it
