4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: suspension on 1994 jee9 4 Wheel drive, jeep cherokee, rubber bumper

Question
I use my jeep Cherokee on my hunting lease which is rough but not horribly so. But when I hit a hole with a front tire I get a bad jolt like it is bottoming out. I put on new shocks but it did not make any difference. What do you think in need to do? Does it have bumpers that are supposed to hit the front axle like it does in the rear? There is a cylinder inside the coil spring that looks somewhat like a shock, is it? My tires are new all terrain.

Answer
Ronnie,

yes there should be a rubber bumper that hepls with bottoming out on the front just like the rear end. And yes that is shocks inside the coil spring in front. I would replace both if I was going to do it and if this doesn't help You may have to go with a slight lift kit to reduce damage over this terrain.
