4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 94 4Runner trans., 5th gear, 4runner

Question
My 94 4runner automatic transmission will not go into 4th and then 5th gear until the car is up to operating temp. Doesn't matter if it is winter or summer, cold or just cooled down the trans won't shift until the temp gage shows it up to operating temp.

you may need to have the transmission flushed and serviced to repair ypur problem. It sounds like the fluid has to get hot and thin out and then it will build pressure and force fluid past a blockage. This will cause the exact symtom you are having. I would take it to a place that does transmission flushes and see if that fixes it
