4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 97 Grand Cherokee Check Engine Light, jeep grand cherokee, oxygen senser

Question
I just changed the catalytic converter, muffler, and tailpipe on my 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl. After traveling down the road the Check Engine light came on. It wasn't on before and didn't come on immediately after. I used the same oxygen senser that was on before. Could it be the oxygen senser that is causing it? The jeep just had a complete tune-up 5mnths ago. Thanks

Answer
Randy,

It may be totally unrelated but possible. Try to take it to the dealer of auto parts store who will check computer codes and see what code is in the computer. Something as simple as leaving your gas cap loose will turn the CEL on these days. A bad oxygen sensor is a big possibility but I would get it scanned before I threw parts at it
