4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: steering stabilizer, steering damper, jeep cherokee

Question
I have removed the old stabilizer from my 99 jeep cherokee. the old bolt is still in there, its stuck and i cant pound it out. i tried to heat it up but it wont budge. do you have any sugestions.

Answer
Jason,

If you're talking about the steering damper/stabilizer, as opposed to the stabilizer bar, then normally one end uses a bolt, and the other end is a stud mounted permanently to the stabilizer.  The stud goes through a hole in the tie rod and is held in place with a nut.

To confirm this for your model, I would purchase a repair manual from a local auto parts store.  These usually cost between $16 and $20.  They are invaluable if you're planning on doing any work on the vehicle yourself.
