4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Jeep Cherokee front end shake, jeep cherokee, suspension components

Question
I own a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classis 4x4.  I was driving on the highway when I hit a serious chuckhole...the front end began to shake so bad I thought I'd have to pull over when it just stopped.  I don't see anything broken or leaking but it seemed that when I hit a bump a slight vibration would begin.

Answer
Lynda,

You may have bent a tire rim, lost some tire weights, or broke a shock.  I would have the tires rotated, and balanced first to see if that cures the problem.  If not then you may want to have the front end aligned, and shocks checked, or replaced.  When this is done the mechanic can check to see if any steering, or suspension components may have been damaged.
