4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Service engine soon, chevy blazer, electronic scanner

Question
I saw the ansewr for the "service engine soon" on the GMC jimmy. I just bought a 1995 Chevy Blazer LS, with 89,000 miles. Two days later the "service engine soon" light came on. Is the ansewr the same? Just need to reset the light? It was serviced just before i bought it. It has the v6 engine and is four wheel drive with auto transmission. Seems to run ok.
                  Thanks,

Answer
Steve,

Sounds like the standard mileage warning.  After so many miles, usually somewhere between 60,000 and 90,000 miles many of the newer vehicles flash this warning to have you check the smog system.

If you have a manual for the Jimmy, check it, and see if they tell you how to reset the light.  Many times it is as simple as flipping a switch under the dash.  If not, you may have to take it to a shop that can reset the light with an electronic scanner.  If you don't have a manual, you can pick one up at most auto parts stores for around $20.
