4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: ABS light on lifted Silverado, rear differential, auto parts stores

Question
Any help on a 2000 Silverado with the ABS light on?
Fabtech 6" Suspension lift, 315/75's, 3" body lift.
Is there something that goes on with lifted trucks and the ABS lights?
HELP!
Thanks

Answer
Dan,

I'm not familiar with the ABS system on the Silverado, but many of the newer vehicles have a sensor located in the rear differential, which sends a signal to your computer system through a couple of small wires.  I have seen these wires break on occasion, sending an error code to the computer.

The lift should have nothing to do with the ABS light, unless a wire got pinched or broken in the installation.

I would suggest that you purchase a repair manual for your rig, and review the ABS section.  A Chilton's or a Hayne's manual can be purchased at most auto parts stores for $20.  They have a lot of information on basic trouble shooting, and repairs, including a list of special tools that may be needed for a specific job.  These manuals are designed for a year or range of years for specific vehicles, and are invaluable if you are planning on doing any repairs, or maintenance yourself.

PS  Sorry to have such a late answer, but I sent this in once, but it seems that the message got lost somehow.
