4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 60,000 miles check-up, free loaner car, toyota product

Question
Good morning,

I have 1999 Lexus RX300.
I'm about to have 60,000 miles regular check-up for $650. Do you think this is really worth it?

What's your opinion on this...?

I know you says no mechanical questions, just asking your opinion.

Thanks.

Answer
Jason, while the price sounds high it is necessary for the continued operation of your vehicle to have these done.  You do not mention if this is a dealers price.  You can probably save some money if you can find a GOOD mechanic who can do all the services.  Remember however that modern vehicles have a tremendous amount of electronics, computers, sensors and other equipment which take special equipment to analyze, diagnose and repair.  I personally own a Toyota product and have been in the auto business so could have it done for considerably less by people I know and trust but the peace of mind knowing the proper diagnostic equipment and well trained and certified technicians are taking care of it.  My dealer does not charge quite that much, and also includes a free loaner car but it is for a Toyota rather than a Lexus.  In the end your comfort will, and should be, the deciding factor.  Best of luck, Bud
