4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: putting chevy motor into a jeep cherekee, advance adapters inc, jeep cherekee

Question
I'm looking at purchacing a  90' jeep cherokee with a 4.0L inline six ,with an automatic.  It is not alltime four wheel drive.  The motor is bad ,tranny is good.  The body is in excellent shape as well as the interior.  I have a Chevy 389 stroker motor almost complete that i was going to put in my s-10 street truck.  But its going to be winter here soon so I would like four wheel drive again.  I like the strait axel in the front for a cost efficient lift system ,and get articulation where my IFS 88 yota lacked.  I heard a rumur that a chevy motor will bolt up to a jeeps transmission.  If this is possible I could pull this off pretty quick.  If I could do a simple engine swap I would have everything to pull it off.  Otherwise I would have to get a tranny and transfer case, or a bellhouseing kit. Do you have any information that might be able to help me out?k  thax,

Greg

Answer
Greg,

The people to talk to about any conversion such as your planning would be Advance Adapters, as they manufacture conversion kits for most vehicles.

I have dealt with them on several occasions, and they are quite helpful.
