4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: hood release, chevy tahoe, stiff piece

Question
I own a 95 Chevy Tahoe and the hood release is not working. I can hear the cable moving as I pull on the release but it never actually pops the hood.  Is there another way to open the hood?

Answer
Sylvia,

Sometimes, you can bend a stiff piece of steel rod, such as a welding rod, and hook the latch mechanism from the front grill area.  This can be very hard to do on many vehicles, as you need to know where the pulling point on the latch is.  You might try to call a local wrecking yard, or body shop, and ask them what their methods are.  The latch may be, just stuck, and in need of lubrication.  Once it's open, then you can see if you need to replace the whole cable, or just re-attach it.
