4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Liftgate Struts, auto parts stores, grand cherokee

Question
It looks like Express Auto Parts has 2 different struts for my 97 Grand Cherokee (one for the window, one for the tailgate).  It seemed incorrect that the window struts were almost twice as much as the tailgate struts, even though the window struts are half the size.  Can you confirm this?

Answer
Travis,

You should call around to some different auto parts stores, or look in some Jeep catalogues, and compare prices.  The size of the strut has no bearing on the cost.  The tailgate struts might be a more common part to fail than the window struts, therefore the parts houses carry more of them in stock.  This would account for the cheaper price.  The prices in your area may differ from where I live, due to the fact that there may be more distributers where you live.  In my area, we only have Kragen stores, or privately owned parts houses.
