Jeep: Jeep - Blower Motor Conrol, blower motor, c control

Question
I have an '02 Liberty. Recently, the blower motor stopped working in anything other than the top (4) setting. It does not matter if I am using heat/air or what setting the vents are on. I was hoping it would be some kind of relay (cheap / easy) but I'm getting the impression that it is probably the blower control module (more expensive/harder). Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Craig,

Well, there is a Blower Relay, and it's in the PDC (under the hood), but it would take out all speeds. The most likely candidate would be the Resistor Block, and that's behind the glovebox door (you might need to unhinge it, or lean on it a little), or under the dash -- it's mounted in the lower HVAC case. You should be able to see the block connector -- it's got a 5 wire harness going to it, and it's held in the case by two retaining screws. I have a part number of 5066552AA, but that may have superseded by now.

If you have a Voltmeter (or DMM), then you can confirm your diagnostic (and the wiring in general) by making sure that you get B+ (12v) at terminals 1,3,4 and 5 (#2 is out to the motor, and you already know that wire is good) from the A/C Control Head.

Good luck!
