Jeep: back up lights/starting, jeep cherokee country, neutral switches

Question
I have a 94 Jeep Cherokee Country.  About 6 months ago my back up lights started to not work every so often. Now they do not work at all. About 2-3 months ago my Jeep would not start after short trips (5-10 minutes), and I would jiggle the shifter in park, then in neutral and it would start.  Now it is not starting more often and it's getting harder to "jiggle" to start.  Are they related?  And how do I fix them?  Thanks so much in advance for your help.
Christine

Answer
They could be.  It depends on the type of transmission you have and where the back up and neutral switches are mounted.  You might be lucky and have a combined switch on the side of your transmission shop. Before I invested in new switches, I would make sure the electrical connection is tight and clean.
