took the front drive shaft off my grand cherokee limited.  now when I put it in Park it won't hold (stay put) on a grade.  what gives?  any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave
Answer -
In Park, the transmission locks the drivetrain.  When you remove one of those components, the locking of the transmission does no good since the wheels can move freely without the driveshaft in place.
I can't understand why you removed it in the first place, if there is something wrong with it, get it fixed, it's there for a reason.

Follow up Question:  I took the front driveshaft off because I beleive the VISCOUS COUPLING is bad and it would cost an arm and a leg to repair it.  Sinse I did this the "binding" action when I make a sharp turn has stopped.  Sinse I still have the rear driveshaft I would think this would hold the car in park and was surprised when it didn't.  Won't one driveshaft hold it?

Thanks

Dave

Answer
My guess is that you have a Jeep with full time four wheel drive and that's a different animal when it comes to which axle does what and when. I have never owned a Jeep with full time four wheel drive and won't.
As for the binding, that's normal on a four wheel drive vehicle.  It tells you that the four wheel drive is working.  It's nothing more than one wheel traveling faster on a turn than the other and the other wheel trying to keep up.
If that is the reason you took the front drive shaft off, you did it for the wrong reason. I would suggest you put your Jeep back in the condition that is was engineered for.
