Tips on Buying Cars: Heavy Hauling Truck, ford truck owners, ford f 350

Question
Hi Douglas!

I am starting to look for my next truck.  I currently own a Ford F-350 4X4 Dually Diesel.  I haul horses in a very large Sooner trailer with living quarters.  The GVW of the trailer is 19,500 pounds, if memory serves.

I want another truck that is not just a single purpose hauler.  I like a pick up bed and the versitality I get with my F-350.  I have heard negative comments from other non ford truck owners about the new ford truck line up.  I don't feel confident in asking a sales person about the truck, I'll just get the party line.  What is the real scoop out there in new heavy hauling trucks.  I don't want to go top-kick or Semi...What is the REAL deal with the new F- 450's in the dually, diesel, 4x4.  How is the new power plant working out and the transmission?  How does it compare to the duramax?

I have no complaints with my old ford.  I've hauled cross country and have had no problems with the 7.3L power plant.  Had to replace the shifting module, and that is about it.  H-E-L-P!  Thank You!

Answer
Hi Denise,

Please forgive me for just getting back to you. I really wish there was a way I could advise you with your search, however; I would not be the expert really in choosing a particular vehicle for a specific purpose.

I can however assist you with how you negotiate your purchase and which techniques that will make it a successful transition for you.

Sorry, and again I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
