Tips on Buying Cars: thinking about buying a US car from a Canadian Auto Dealer?, emissions standards, flood damage

Question
Living in Ontario, what are the pros & cons of buying a used American-bought vehicle from a Canadian dealer?

I understand that a vehicle inspection has to be done in order to meet Canada's safety and emissions standards as well as bumpers may need to be replaced.  The odometer needs to also be able to show metric mileage although it won't be as prominent as the imperial figures (not mandatory to change though, I understand).  I'm existing warranties and services will be honoured?  Or if there are other hidden charges associated?  Or if I decide to move to another province in the next couple of years what roadblocks will I face in order to register and insure the vehicle?

I'd appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks,

Answer
Hi Divina
It really is buyers beware, would I personally buy one, most likely not for several reasons.

The warranty's are not honored - many vehicles are imported with flood damage or history of accident you sometimes cant trace - you may have a hard time to re-sell as the educated buyer most likely will not be interested, my guess is your interest buying import has to do with price ?

Can you provide a link for the vehicle in question ? , if you care to then send it to my address provided in my website  http://www.usedcartips.org/index.html  and I will look into it further.
