Tips on Buying Cars: trade in, nissan frontier, 2005 nissan frontier

Question
I have a 2005 Nissan Frontier king cab SE. I've have it for about a year and want to trade it in for a car. Something cheap on gas, because I'm having a hard time trying to keep up with my payments, insurance, maintenance, etc. I still owe 24 grand on this. Is it possible to trade this in, even though it has a lien from the bank.

Answer
You can only trade a vehicle in if the lien is paid off in the process.
I'm afraid that if you owe that much on an 05 Frontier, the only way that a dealer can get you out of it is to add the negative equity onto another car note which will only make matters much worse in the long run.

Most of us (including myself) have been in your situation at one time or another.  It's a hard pill to swallow, but the only logical way to get out from under this debt and keep your good credit is to find a way to make some more money.  Then you can start making much bigger payments and get the principle down to the vehicle's value.

When I was there, I delivered pizza at night to get out of the situation.  With gas prices so high now, that may not be for you but I'm sure that you can find something up your alley.

Good luck!
